Plot Summary:A translator, writer, and poet whose beliefs conflict with the government's cultural structure migrates to an abandoned house in his hometown due to financial constraints and his wife's expulsion from university. The rising river threatens his survival and that of his family. Writing a new novel in this house initiates a battle between him, the river, and the ruling suffocation. He ultimately gets killed in a staged accident with his daughter, while attending a meeting to remove obstacles to publishing his book.
