“I don’t believe anyone can save anyone.”
This movie is so heavy that I couldn’t watch it all at once. This movie is so complex that I felt something called redemption after watching the whole movie, which is full of sadness. It uses a tragedy towards destruction to tell salvation. When the sunlight outside the door flew into the room and illuminated Charlie, it seemed he could finally get out of this painful life.
It’s not a bad movie, but it’s a bad story. It tells a selfish man want to pay homage to love with pain , but all the women in the story want to save him and thus save themselves. But I suggest that these women should leave and start a new life. That’s more meaningful.
As a movie, it is almost perfect in the lighting, composition, acting and narrative rhythm, with a great deal of tention. It uses man’s own body to construct an inescapable cage for protagonist, which implies that man is only limited by his own strength. This design is so ingenious. However, sometimes, it exploits the flaws in the human body to stimulate the viewer’s vision, which I think is such a bad idea. There is a difference between hunting for novelty and filmmaking. Stirring the viewer’s emotions by gazing at the ugliness seems to me to detract from the artistry.
